Airbnb & Motel/Hotel Kitchen Cleaning Checklist

STEP 1:  Initial Tidying & Waste Management

  • Empty Bins & Dispose of Unused Food.
  • Remove all rubbish and recycling, including any food left in the fridge or pantry by previous guests.
  • Wash and sanitise the inside of the bin if needed.
  • Insert a fresh bin liner.


Surface Cleaning & Detailing

  • Clean Windows & Window Sills.
  • Wipe down window glass for streaks and smudges using a glass cleaner.
  • Clean dust and debris from window sills.


Remove Cobwebs:

  • Check all corners, ceilings and light fixtures for cobwebs and remove them.
 
Clean & Polish Microwave:
  • Wipe down the interior, including the turntable, to remove any food splatters.
  • Clean the exterior, including the handle and control panel.
  • Polish the exterior for a streak-free shine.
 
Clean & Polish Stovetop:
Remove grates/burner covers (if applicable) and clean them thoroughly.
 
  • Wipe down the stovetop surface, removing any spills, grease, or food residue.
  • Polish the surface to a shine.

Clean Inside & Outside Fridge:
  • Remove all contents and shelves/drawers.
  • Wipe down all interior surfaces with an appropriate cleaner.
  • Clean shelves and drawers before returning them.
  • Wipe down the exterior, including handles, with a cleaner and polish for a streak-free finish.


Empty & Externally Clean Toaster & Appliances:

  • Empty toaster crumb tray and wipe down the exterior.
  • Wipe down other small appliances (e.g., kettle, coffee maker, blender) externally, ensuring they are clean and free of smudges or spills.


Clean Splashback, Range Hood & Benchtop:

  • Wipe down the kitchen splashback to remove grease and food splatters.
  • Clean the exterior of the range hood.
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitise all benchtops, removing any crumbs, spills, or stains.

Clean Sink:
  • Scrub the sink basin, taps and drain area to remove food particles, grease, and water marks.
  • Polish the faucet and sink for a sparkling finish.


Clean Kitchen Table:

  • Wipe down and sanitise the kitchen table surface, ensuring it’s free of crumbs and marks.
  • Wipe down table legs if visibly dirty.


Step 3: Restocking & Final Touches

Restock Coffee/Tea/Sugar & Milk:

  • Check levels and replenish coffee, tea bags, sugar and milk portions as per your standard.


Sanitise Touch Points:

  • Wipe down and sanitise high-touch areas such as light switches, cupboard handles, appliance knobs and the refrigerator handle.


Vacuum & Mop Floors:

  • Vacuum or sweep the entire kitchen floor to remove crumbs and debris.
  • Mop the floor with an appropriate floor cleaner, paying attention to corners and edges.
 
Restock Kitchen Cleaning Supplies & Put Out Clean Teatowel:
  • Ensure a fresh, clean tea towel is available.
  • Check and replenish any provided kitchen cleaning supplies (e.g., dish soap, sponge, paper towels).
